Is JoinBeUs an app or a website?
Both. The learning experience is a mobile app (iOS first, Android shortly after). This site is the way in.
How is it different from Duolingo, Babbel, Memrise?
Those are built for streaks and gamification. JoinBeUs is built for the day you actually walk into a bakery in a country you have just moved to. Different goal, different product.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Once a dialogue is downloaded, you can listen, speak, and be scored offline. We sync progress when you reconnect.
Which languages are at launch?
Eight: Portuguese (European), French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Mandarin, Arabic. The list is shaped by where our waitlist is moving — not by app-store search volume.
How much does it cost?
During Cohort I, JoinBeUs is free for individuals. We will tell you in advance before any pricing change.
How do I get in?
Join the waitlist. We let people in slowly, in waves through 2026, starting with Portuguese.
Can my school or university use this?
Yes. We have institutional pricing per-seat, with admin tooling, cohort analytics, and SSO. Book a demo.
What do you do with my voice recordings?
By default, recordings stay on-device. We upload only briefly to score pronunciation, then delete within 30 days. You can opt in to research; you can opt out at any time.
Will you sell my email?
No. Read our privacy policy — it is short and plain-spoken.
Where is the data stored?
Servers in the European Union. Encrypted at rest and in transit.
